Gift of the Month Clubs have been around for a long time…at least since Clark Griswold was enrolled in the “Jelly of the Month Club” by his generous boss so many Christmases ago. Now you can subscribe to have everything delivered monthly, from shaving kits, to cheese, to the latest in fashion trends. But what about the aspiring computer programmer or electrical engineer? Where is the club for this niche?
Thimble has launched a Kickstarter campaign to be the company that fills that niche. They promise to deliver a monthly DIY electronics kit to your doorstep each month. The kits come with everything you need to complete each project and are backed up with detailed instructions on their website.
The first kit that will be delivered is a robot that you can control with your WiFi enabled device. What a great way to learn about coding and electronics. The first kits should start shipping around April.
The late 90’s smash hit, Robot Wars, is getting a reboot soon. BBC is bringing the show back to life and you can expect 3D printing and Raspberry Pi’s to steal the show this time.
With the recent “maker” revolution taking place, what changes do you expect to see in the reboot of Robot Wars?
